... city between mountains and water
Municipal information centre
welcome – at least virtually – to Bruntál, the town situated between the mountains and water. This slogan depicts the location of our town between the Jeseníky mountains, the highest mountains in Moravia and Silesia, and one of the largest domestic water tanks – Slezská Harta.
And it is not only its privileged location which gives our town the hallmark of uniqueness.
Bruntál is at the same time one of the oldest towns of the of the so called Czech Crown and has a very rich history which has shaped the character of the city in the form of valuable landmarks, including a château, museum exhibits or the newly renovated square with the original municipal houses.
The town has been using its potential to a greater extent. We are ambitious to become a well-equipped base for tourists, different kinds of sportsmen, supporters of the summer, winter and all-year-round leisure activities, lovers of history and romantics, in short for all visitors from whichever part of the Czech Republic or world they happen to come from.
We have constructed a wellness centre, we are in the process of building an integrated multi-purpose sports centre for the public, we have reconstructed our most important cultural and social sites. We have revitalised our municipal park and adjusted it for modern forms of active and leisurely relaxation. We cherish our unique natural landmark, Uhlířský vrch, with its ancient lime tree alley and unique stations of the cross.
Of course, we are doing even more to fulfil our vision of an attractive and also competitive town, in terms of the sustainable development of the livelihoods of its inhabitants. Therefore we are betting on education and we enable our inhabitants or people from the surrounding areas to choose from a quality range of elementary and grammar schools. Even though we are not a big city, our inhabitants have the opportunity to get a university diploma in the form of a part-time study directly in Bruntál. We are looking for pathways to improve the career prospects for local residents and how to support especially small and middle enterprises and we offer investment opportunities.
To sum up, we want the locals and the visitors to feel comfortable here. If you want to include yourself among them, we warmly welcome you.
